Redrow eyes approval for Stockport Homes

Redrow eyes approval for Stockport Homes. Stockport Council has been recommended to approve the housebuilder’s plans for almost 300 homes at the former Woodford Aerodrome, part of the wider redevelopment of the 500-acre site into Woodford Garden Village.

Overall, the Chester Road plot has approval for 950 homes under outline consent granted in 2015 to joint-applicants Redrow, and Avro Heritage. The vast majority of those homes now have full planning permission and are under construction.

Later this week Stockport Council’s planning committee will decide whether to approve Redrow’s application for 295 homes across 63 acres of the wider site, the final phase of homes.

This element of Woodford Garden Village would see the construction of:

    12 one-bedroom apartments

    13 two-bedroom houses

    70 three-bedroom houses

    146 four-bedroom houses

    54 five -bedroom houses.

The wider development also features a primary school, an extra care scheme, 11,000 sq ft of retail and 90,000 sq ft of commercial space. As part of the development agreement with Stockport Council, Redrow will be funding more than £9.5m in community benefits through section 106 contributions. Which, Includes providing 143 affordable homes on site with an additional contribution of £4m to the council to provide affordable homes elsewhere. BAE sold the former airfield and manufacturing facility in 2011. The facility was used to make military aircraft in the Second World War.
